To avoid this set every melee character's strategy to "Stay away from enemies" and set all spell casters to "Do Nothing". Take control of Rena and cast Cure All as needed.

After the battle Cynne retreats and the party waits a few days for the Energy Stone so they may use the Lacuer Hope. When you gain control of Rena again talk to everyone around including the infirmary, then rest there. As you try to leave another event takes place. Go to the front lines and if Precis is in your party at the time Leon will stop by and give you the THUNDER PUNCHER. Let the scenes roll through until you are on the ship to Ell. More scenes take place and you are thrust into combat against Cynne again.

You cannot win. Simply let the party fall in order to advance.
